In this video: Watch as Pastor Alfred teaches on sanctification. Have you sanctified yourself? We all desire to hear from God, but it can only be done when we are sanctified. Our sinful, unholy living hinders us from hearing God. This is because God is Holy! Therefore it is our choice to sanctify ourselves if we want to hear from God.
Sermon Summary:
We referred from the previous week on sanctifying 6 things: spirit, soul, body, eyes, ears, and mouth . Have you sanctified yourself? We all desire to hear from God, but it can only be done when we are sanctified. Our sinful, unholy living hinders us from hearing God. This is because God is Holy! Therefore it is our choice to sanctify ourselves if we want to hear from God.
We know an egg consists of three parts – the outer shell, the egg white, and the yellow or orange yolk. If you remove any of the parts, you can no longer call it an egg. Therefore the egg is triune. God is triune as there are three persons – God, Holy Spirit, and Jesus. We are also triune as we have a spirit, a soul, and a body. When we become sanctified, this means that our spirit, soul, and body are pure and holy. Impurity in any one of these makes us unholy.
When a man gets married, he moves away from his parents to live with his wife. Some of us are married to Jesus (accepted His Lordship) but never separated from the old sinful life, and thus cannot have a sanctified life. If we do not sanctify ourselves and bear fruits of the spirit, we are at risk of drying up spiritually. If we cannot form a strong connection with God, hear His voice, and know Him personally, in this year of 2022; it will be a harder and harder from 2023 onwards.By 2025, it will be impossible to be truly Christians.
Pastor calls us to examine our prayer life, how often we’ve prayed in the past week. Have we heard from God? If not, why not? If we are fully submitted to God or if we are only Christians until our personal needs are met?
If we do not sacrifice our time; isolate ourselves on this earth to know Jesus, how can we expect to spend an Eternity with Him after this earthly life?
We learn from the examples of when Satan testing man’s commitment and submission to God’s will. Moses, being meekest and a righteous man, could not enter the promised land due to his one mistake of Anger when he struck the rock 2nd time (contrary to God’s instruction to just “speak the Word”).
Another example is the obedience and faith of Abraham in offering Isaac as a sacrifice to God. He trusted in God’s provision and therefore redeemed Isaac and was rewarded with the title:”father of many nations.”
Romans 6:13 instructs us not to present members of our body as instruments of unrighteousness. Our mouth can be used to sin, it can speak venom into our lives, our future and into the lives of those others around us.It is important that we must purge evil from our hearts that will help to sanctify members of our body. Therefore submitting to God, in other words, being dead in Christ, is the only way to be free from sin.
