We have learned in the previous message of July 31, 2022, about the 4 steps we must follow to witness our spiritual birth: ADMIT (acknowledge your situation/sin), COMMIT (surrender your life to Jesus), SUBMIT (obey His Words) and TRANSMIT (preaching and glorifying the Gospel).
Similarly, we continue testifying a glorious life, through 4 stages: *FAITH* , *SACRIFICE* , *WARFARE* and *VICTORY* . These stages keep occurring as a chain action: as you come to the victory, then another series begins. The end becomes the beginning, as the bible says that we move from glory to glory.
In 2 Kings 2, we read the account of Elisha’s perseverance in following his master, Prophet Elijah and ends up receiving the double portion anointing. This event occurred because of moving from Gilgal (represents FAITH) to Bethel (represents SACRIFICE) to Jericho (represents WARFARE) to Jordan (represents CONQUEST or VICTORY).
Before being taken up into heaven, Elijah instructed his servant Elisha to stay back in Gilgal. But Elisha was determined in his faith in following Elijah. During this process, Elisha overcame severe discouragements from his master, Elijah (who did not want anyone to witness his sacred departure) and the distractions from the fellow prophets that reminded him about the upcoming event of Elijah’s ascension. He silenced the prophets and stayed focussed on his course. As a result, after crossing of the Jordan river, Elijah asked Elisha about his desire and the double portion anointing was granted. When we go through these four stages just like Elisha did, and we stay focussed and committed, at the end, the Lord asks us, “what do you want? I will give you the nations as your inheritance” (Psalm 2:7).
We see the repetition of the same stages of Elisha’s journey during his return from Jordan valley, when he divided the waters by faith, using Elijah’s fallen mantle. From there, Elisha continues to perform double number of miracles than those done by Elijah. Similar to this situation, we now apply the 4 steps to confront our challenging times and come out victorious. We have the righteousness of Christ Jesus. The knowledge of Jesus empowers us to overcome the knowledge of Satan (the world). We continue to accomplish great victories through disciplined decision to follow the Word!!
